Back To Shine

Back to Shine is the first short film by Non Lieu Film Productions.

During the filming of this project, the idea and founding core of the Non Lieu film collective emerged. After the occupation of the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, third-year acting students created a film that, rather than following a traditional narrative structure, reflects their state of mind, thoughts, and emotions at the time through atmosphere and sensations.

Back to Shine is a coming-of-age story—an encounter between personalities who have grown up in a socially and culturally protective environment and the realities of violence, brutality, and abandonment. The feeling of being left to fend for oneself.

This 30-minute short film, condensed in an expressive style, explores the dynamics of exile, creator, and creation, which can also be interpreted as a master–apprentice relationship. It presents a series of pressures unfolding on multiple levels. The film invites the viewer not to seek rational explanations or interpretations but simply to observe—because if they do, they may experience something truly extraordinary.
